It allows for the accurate physical simulation of a flexible soft-body object which entirely depends on the physical construction of what you make. Rigs of Rods is a free and open-source vehicle simulator. Key Features // The Free & Open Source Vehicle Simulator BTW, Rigs of Rods is also the only game in the world so far that truly differentiates between front, mid-offset and rear-mounted motor engines. And, the Mods can interact with each other, so collisions, scrapes, breaks and links are very realistic, and that is the beauty of it. In game, players can drive cars (including all kinds of buses), ships, aircrafts, rail trains, racing cars, etc., and use the loading machinery to load and unload the cargo manually, so as to experience driving in a mechanical environment as realistic as possible. Rigs of Rods was originally just a truck experiment simulator with no specific goals, later it made some sandbox game improvements, added aircraft and ship simulation engines with extremely high customizability (so that the range of activities was not limited to land, but could also be sea and sky), and Lua programming language support, started to support dozens of users to interact in an area simultaneously, and more. Unlike most other vehicle simulators, Rigs of Rods comes with unique soft-body physics models (vehicles, machines, objects, etc.) that are simulated in real-time as flexible soft-body objects, giving the simulation an extremely accurate behavior which entirely depends on the physical construction of the vehicles or objects you created. It simulates cars, trucks, airplanes, boats and everything in between, and uses soft-body physics system (based on mass-spring-damper model) to simulate the vehicle physics, mainly motion destruction and deformation of vehicles. Bunch of other small things not listed here.Pickup version's back fenders use a different UV map.Police and Taxi liveries are only compatible with the sedan variant.
As expected, Deformation isn't up to standard compared to official vehicles. So far nothing I've tried has improved this. This is a result of my lack of experience with textures (and modding BeamNG in general lol). 'Jagged edges' visible when looking up close in some areas, mostly around the back window area. You can find my attempt in the newtex folder. I wasn't able to get them working correctly. Charger - Pickup version, rear bumper plate.BeamNG team - Moonhawk frame/engine/drivetrain.Since I don't have a direct quote from him, I'll have to take their word for it That changed when a few kind folks there seemingly confirmed he's fine with this, hence this thread's creation: Initially wasn't planning on releasing this as I assumed acquiring permission from gabester would've been impossible. Three months ago, I made a post on r/BeamNG showcasing the Burnside. The pickup wasn't part of the original pack. There's also a special pickup version, created in 2013 by Charger.
Using the frame and drivetrain from the Moonhawk as a base, I've managed to bring over the original body N/B structure along with the coupe, convertible, wagon, and limousine body styles. Unlike most other ports from this game, I wanted to keep this as close to the original as possible: While far from perfect, I figure it's finally 'good enough' to do a forum release. I began working on this project in late 2021/early 2022 as part of an initiative to bring over some content from RoR, mostly maps.
